    ✨ Time travel, a fake betrothal, and a slow-burn ✨ Time travel, a fake betrothal, and a slow-burn romance….what more could I ask for? I’ve read plenty of nonfiction and some historical fiction set in the Jacobean period, but A Time Traveler’s Masquerade by @sian_bessey was my first historical romance in this era, and I loved every second of it. The story transports you straight to 1605, just weeks before Guy Fawkes’s infamous Gunpowder Plot. Seeing history unfold through Isla and Simon’s perspectives made for such a compelling read. I especially enjoyed the glimpses into the minds of the conspirators through Guy. Time travel romance is quickly becoming one of my favorite subgenres. There’s always that tension of which time to stay in, and I love the emotional pull of it. And the ending? Whisk Me Away: A Cookbook of Romance and Celebrations is filled with recipes inspired by different time periods and the Proper Romance novels. You’ll find dishes from the Regency era, Victorian times, Steampunk, the American West, and even festive meals for holidays like Christmas and Valentine’s Day! It’s also filled with historical facts, etiquette tips, fashion insights, and even period-appropriate games to fully immerse you in the experience. Believe me when I say this is going to be my most beloved and used cookbook! I can’t wait to continue cooking through it.
