I devoured this book.

In Rules for Ruin by Mimi Matthews, we follow Effie—raised in a radical girls’ academy and trained to take down powerful men—with a very specific mission: stop a lord from destroying a women’s rights bill. Enter Gabriel Royce, an underworld king with secrets, scars, and a soft spot for her sharp tongue.

This historical romance had everything I wanted: no fluff, just tension, chemistry, and real emotional stakes. Plus, there’s a poodle.
🖤 Feminist themes
🖤 Enemies-to-lovers
🖤 A little grit and a lot of heart
🖤 Zero miscommunication, high stakes romance

✨ I need book two NOW.

If you’ve been looking for a gentle rhythm to add to your day, this is your sign. 🫖📚💛

If you love a friends-to-lovers romance that’s s If you love a friends-to-lovers romance that’s soft, emotional, and full of quiet depth… A Beguiled Gentleman needs to be on your list.

Audra Wells completely won me over with this story. Hannah and Noah’s relationship starts as a friendship of comfort and convenience, but slowly becomes something real and meaningful.

What I loved most is how vulnerable and real their connection felt, built on honest conversations and the kind of trust that takes time.

✨ Highlights:

• friends to lovers that actually feels grounded
• soft moments, big feelings
• character growth that hits just right
• the kind of kiss that makes your heart ache (in a good way)

📖 Full review now up on the blog!

Thank you so much to @authoraudrawells for an ARC of this book! I’m incredibly excited for the rest of the series.
